SAN FRANCISCO OVEN FINALIST IN NATIONAL PIZZA COMPETITION
Brecksville, OH, February 25 2003 - San Francisco Oven LLC, the Cleveland area-based company that operates the highly successful San Francisco Oven fast casual restaurant concept announced today that San Francisco Oven was selected as a finalist in the Mid America Pizza Pizzaz competition.
Pizza Pizzaz is a competition for the best pizza makers in the United States. Each year the U.S. Pizza Team selects from America's best chefs and pizza-makers a group of individuals to represent our great American pizza industry in the World Pizza Championship in Salsomaggiore, Italy.
The competition this year was held on February 23rd and 24th in Columbus Ohio and featured contestants from all over the United States. Eddie Cerino, San Francisco Oven's Corporate Chef and Vice President represented San Francisco Oven. He stated "I was disappointed not to win the competition and be able to represent the United States, however I was very happy about being selected as a finalist in our first year in this prestigious event".
Cerino also stated "it was a great honor to be selected as a finalist in a high quality event such as this. The competition was fierce and I was able to learn a great deal from my fellow competitors. We will definitely be back next year!"
San Francisco Oven was selected as a finalist in the "traditional pizza" category. The pizza that was entered featured a San Marzano red sauce topped with pepperoni, sausage, fresh basil, Romano cheese and fresh mozzarella cheese.
